This is the work of my then 9 and 10 year old boys for their Combined 4th/5th grade Science Fair project. I supervised the project. Ear candles have been touted as a method for removing impacted wax from the ear canal. Reportedly, the burning candle creates a vacuum that removes wax from the ear canal. We tested the ability of ear candles to remove wax from a test tube model of the ear. See the following video for the results.
